From Your Support to the Frontline: How One Car Became a Lifeline in Ukraine

After supporting Ukraine since 2022, I realised I wanted to do more than just donate from afar. In May, I made my first trip delivering a car filled with aid to Ukraine. That experience opened my eyes to the impact one person can make, and it pushed me to take on an even bigger challenge.

This time, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I bought and donated a L200. I filled it with medical supplies, set off from Northampton, and began the long road east. From Dover to Calais, then a night in Antwerp, before driving across Germany and Poland, it took four days in total to reach the border.

There, I met fellow volunteer Andy, who was driving his Navara. We crossed into Ukraine together, finally reaching Lviv, where we delivered our vehicles to a local charity. The cars will be serviced and then passed on to Achilles Battalion, where they’ll play a part in supporting air defence. To think that something as ordinary as a vehicle could save lives! it makes every mile worth it!

The D2SL team was incredible throughout. They checked in on me, guided me through the process, and made sure I had the support I needed. Knowing they were just a phone call away gave me the confidence to keep pushing forward.

Now I’m volunteering in Chernihiv and plan to spend the rest of the year here. Driving aid was just the start; being in Ukraine, seeing the resilience of its people, and contributing in person has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.
