D2SL — Drive 2 Save Lives

Volunteer Insurgency

Donated here.
Saving lives there.

D2SL drives donated vehicles from the UK into Ukraine, where they become
frontline ambulances, evacuation trucks, and supply runners.
Entirely volunteer-led. No paid staff. No head office.

A pickup donated in Essex is a frontline ambulance in Donetsk
within a fortnight.

D2SL started when a handful of people decided to stop watching and start driving.
We’ve delivered over 200 vehicles into Ukraine since then — pickups, SUVs, ambulances,
anything that can handle the roads. Most end up running casualty evacuations
or hauling medical supplies to places nothing else can reach.

How It Works

It’s not complicated.

The aid industry has a lot of steps. We have three.

Someone gives us a vehicle

A pickup, an SUV, an ambulance — anything that can handle rough roads.
We check it over, sort the paperwork, and match it to a need on the ground.

A volunteer drives it there

Across the Channel, through France, Germany, Poland, and into Ukraine.
One person, one vehicle, two thousand miles. We track the whole thing.

It goes to work immediately

Keys handed over. No warehouse. No waiting list.
That vehicle is running frontline evacuations or hauling medical supplies
within days of arriving.

Radical Accountability

No gatekeepers. No black boxes.

We track every vehicle from donation to delivery.
You can see where it went, who received it, and what it’s doing now.

  • £

    Donations go to the road

Fuel, ferries, insurance, vehicle prep. That’s the entire budget. There is no other budget.

  • Every vehicle is tracked end-to-end

From the donor’s driveway to the frontline. We document the full chain of custody.

  • Verified on the ground

Our Ukrainian partners confirm every handover and report back on how each vehicle is being used.

  • Nobody gets paid

No salaries. No office. No expenses. Volunteers cover their own meals. The money goes on the road, full stop.

“You spend two days driving through Europe and it just feels like a road trip.
Then you cross the border, hand over the keys, and watch a medic
strap a stretcher into the back of what used to be someone’s family car.
That’s when it hits you.”

— Richard, Volunteer Driver, Lviv run

“Other organisations send emails. These people send themselves.”

— Ukrainian aid coordinator

Get involved.

We’re always looking for drivers, vehicles, and people willing to put money on the road.

Give a Vehicle

Got a vehicle you don’t need? Next month it could be running casualty evacuations near the frontline.

Donate a vehicle
